Ultimamente he estado viendo películas (aunque sea una) antes de irme a dormir. Me despeja la mente. Aunque también es cierto que no es recomendable tener algún equipo electrónico, ni computadora ni televisión en el área de descanso. No importa, me relaja, y se que esto que estoy haciendo es temporero. Hacía tiempo que no veía la película “With Honors”. Siempre que la veo, me entrego, me la vivo, y también par de lágrimas corren por mi rostro “ay pero que poético me quedó eso!”. Sí lo admito, soy sensible, una mujer libre que le gusta expresarse y conectarse con ella misma. Aquí guardo mis recuerdos, no tan íntimos y los comparto. Esta película en específico me inspira, por su significado de lo que es “HONOR” en la vida. No todos nos graduamos con “honores” en la vida…y eso es lo que realmente cuenta, vale y se expresa inteligentemente en la película. El protagonista, el “vagabundo”, entrecomillas, pues era sólo un ser humano que según el, se había rendido. Simon, ese era su nombre, solía repetir esta frase “Oh boy, oh boy” de una manera tan peculiar y hasta cómica. Este personaje y el de Brendan Fraser hacen una combinación perfecta de llave-candado, y el mensaje llega directito al corazón. Y hablando de “boys” los dejo con tres chiquillos lindos, son de estos bocetos que hago cuando desarrollo personajes. Se están cocinando muchas cosas interesantes y muy buenas en la olla. No les cuento más, hasta que tome real forma, sólo les adelando que esta Sí que es la vencida.Que mis sueños se están haciendo realidad. No me he mudado, pero ya PRONTO.

I have been watching movies before going to sleep. I know is not “healthy” to have electronics in your room, not computers or t.v, I am aware this is temporary, but it relax me so much, I get disconnected from worries and it free my thoughts.I recently watched an old movie I love so much: “With Honors”. What a great movie, it really show us what the real meaning of graduating with “honors” in life. I really enjoy this movie so much every time I watch it. Simon, is the “bum”, but clearly is an experienced man in life, who treasured every important moment of his life with keeping just one stone in a dusty bag. Love the phrase that he kept graciously repeating: “Oh boy oh boy”. I recommend the movie, if you haven’t see it before, it will touch your heart. And speaking of BOYS I am leaving you with a sketch of three boys (above), they are friends and they are wishing you to have an spectacular week ahead!

Sin embargo en estas par de semanas, e incluyendo esta me ha tocado recibir. Hoy estoy abierta a recibir y a dar gracias por lo que me está llegando a mi vida. Comparto contigo la alegría de vivir, y de tener el privilegio de conectar con ustedes aunque sea por medio cibernético. Me toca compartir también los regalos tangibles que he recibido, regalos que han honrado mi existencia, y estoy que no quepo por dentro. La semana que viene continúo. Mi querido amigo radicado en la loca California que tanto adoro y quiero, Iván Camilli. El dice que mi trabajo le recuerda a Mary Blair. Siempre me han fascinado los diseños retro, me influencian muchos artistas, y para mi fue una grata sorpresa descubirla y ver que teníamos cosas parecidas en cuanto a esencia del dibujo. Desde entonces se ha convertido también en una de mis favoritas. La semana que viene les enseño el otro librito! Gracias de nuevo Iván, mucho amor para ti.

También comparto con ustedes un regalo, una linda sorpresa que recibí ayer en la tarde, directamente desde del oriente Taiwan: ¡Mi blog ha sido publicado en la revista “Dream ZAKKA” 2008!

A pesar de no entender el idioma, puedo decirles que me complació sólo ver la revista llena de imágenes lindas, artículos interesantes, entrevistas, fuentes, publicaciones de otros artistas internacionales, fotografías de adorables productos en especial decorativos. Es una revista fabulosa, con buen gusto, “cute”, moderna e innovadora. Fue agradable ver el trabajo de Yoshitomo Nara presentado en la misma. Pueden conocer de este artista aquí y aquí). ¡Y me encanta!

También la revista publica el arte de Shinzi Katoh y sus productos. ¡Muy lindos los diseños!

Me siento muy emociona, honrada, super agradecida de haber sido publicada en esta revista oriental. Me alegra mucho viajar por el mundo, sin embargo viajar de esta manera no tiene precio. Lo atesoro demasiado. Gracias Sandy. Estoy muy contenta por ello…y lo comparto contigo. Me despido hasta la semana que viene. Me esperan unos días inolvidables, una noche de confianza y un tercer fin de semana para culminar mi jornada. Y continuaré mi VIDA con todas las herramientas que he recibido.

I have received a lovely book from my dearest friend whom I love very much (Ivan Camilli): “I can fly”- Illustrations by Mary Blair.

I remembered when he once told me that my artwork sort of remind him of Mary Blair. I guess he has referred as in essence of whimsical movements, grace, charm and twinkling eyes I could agree. Now she has become one of my favorite children’s book illustrators ever from the ’40’s-50’s. I love retro look in my artwork, and she is indeed an inspiration. There is one more book he gave me, I will post it next week.

**ONE more brilliant new, a sweet surprise from the Orient: My blog have been published at this modern, fresh (also cute), innovator magazine from Taiwan: Dream ZAKKA! I can’t thank enough, how great this invitation meant to me. Thanks Sandy (the editor) for this opportunity, for making me travel around to your side of the world. For supporting what I love to do, and helping me to touch more hearts ♥. Totally honored and flattered. I have also posted (above)some cropped articles of the magazine which included the artwork and products of: Yoshito Nara and Shinzi Katoh (love them very much!!). Esta linda y simple ilustración está basada en una experiencia personal. Antes veía a las libélulas como insectos que zumbaban, que se acercaban a ti y te dejaban un extraña sensación de que te están mirando. Me sorprendí cuando me enteré que vuelan hacia atrás para elevarse. Pero ahora tienen un significado aún más profundo y simbólico en mi vida. Gracias a una amiga muy especial (Carmen, mi amiga, mi hermana que tanto quiero-adjunto debajo les incluyo la definición que ella me envió). Recuerdo un día me entregó un “charm” o pequeño pendiente de una libélula. Y nos leyó su significado, pues no sólo a mi me la entregó, sino a un grupo de seres especiales, mi familia M59. Es interesante porque la libélula llegó en un punto MUY importante en mi vida. La cual es una que está en constante crecimiento, movimiento y transformación. Donde sigo eligiento vivir, sentir la vida, la gente, sobretodo a mi misma con mucha pasión. Y sigo dándome permiso…porque sí que me lo merezco. Y te invito a ti, a que te regales experiencias, porque sí que te las mereces. Gracias por regresar a mi espacio especial, hacia mi mundo mágico. Un beso*.

This is a sketch of Kiki and her mom (a children’s book I am working on). I bet many kids are going to relate with Kiki, since it’s so hard for her to stop taking out her little thumb of her mouth, which it tastes like a lollipop I guess! It’s an adorable & sweet story…

Ha sido larga la espera pero ya estoy de vuelta. Pido disculpas por no haberme despedido. Las navidades fueron muy buenas y muy activas. Este diseño que muestro lo hice particularmente para generar unos fondos que necesitaba para unos talleres vivenciales que estoy tomando. Ha sido una experiencia super gratificante, maravillosa y hasta mágica. Las palabras se quedan cortas para describir cómo me siento. El diseño que ven fue transferido a unas camisetas blancas. Este diseño formará parte de la línea “Majeak Ann”. El algodón de las camisetas será suave y adicional, de manera especial incluiré una línea de camisetas orgánicas con tinta a base de planta/vegetal.

Siempre he deseado contribuir y ayudar a mi planeta, y que mejor manera de hacerlo, sino es creando ilustraciones con intención, propósito y esencia. La línea “Majeak Ann” tendrá variedad de estilos (adorable “cute” y unisex) entre otros temas, pero me interesa primordialmente enfocarme en temas ambientalistas. Me encantaría y agradecería mucho leer sus respuestas, igualmente espero les sea de su agrado. Gracias por su aportación y por formar parte de uno de mis sueños… Miles de abrazos…

The design I am showing above will be part of a clothing line I am developing starting with t-shirts. I have always wanted to contribute and help my planet using my illustrations, so I thought why not starting to create designs with intention and pro-earth. That would be a perfect gift from me to you and my planet earth. The “Majeak Ann” line will include a variety of designs (cute mostly and unisex) but will also develop special designs showing green love by transferring the designs into organic shirts using vegetable/plant based ink. I would love to hear feedback and responses from you. Thanks so much for being part of one my dreams and for helping. A thousand hugs…

The seeds of greatness are inside. Noni dances and balances her joyful yet curious life by focusing and looking at her heart. I relate this with the phrase: “What makes the queen is not her crown but what it is in her heart”. She is not tiny, oh my she is huge with no doubt. Amigos y amigas ya estoy de vuelta y muy contenta de compartir con ustedes muchas cosas divertidas. Gracias por su paciencia por siempre regresar y dejar siempre comentarios motivadores y sinceros. Desde mi ausencia he vivido unas semanas intensas, divertidas y llenas de sorpresas. Les adelanto que ahora soy LIBRE, que recuperé esa niña interior que perdí hace muchos años atrás. Entre trabajos y compromiso conmigo misma se me hizo complicado actualizar mi blog. Tengo muchas cosas que mostrar, ¡así que estate cerquita! Aquí les muestro mi “Kokeshi” terminada, cuyo tema es: “Make a wish”. Tiene estrellitas brillantes, lunas, flores que se comen y personajes adorables en su alrededor. La exhibición de KOKESHI en SUBTEXT ya abrió. Si vives en California o lugar cercano pulsar aquí para instrucciones sobre cómo llegar a la exhibición. Hello dear friend. I am way happy to come back! Thanks for the long waiting, for your patience and loyalty as always. For leaving me such wonderful and sincere comments during my absence, they were all motivating. THANK YOU. During my absence I was working on different things but most important, working with myself, finding a space for peace, in my interior, I was searching for “that little girl” that has been always within me and felt I lost it when I was 5. It’s feels good to come back, and I feel FREE, I was born again, it’s a precious gift. It’s all I can say.

On the other hand I have been also very busy working on other projects specially in this special project I have the honored to participate in this marvelous show at SUBTEXT, by curator and artist Christina Conway. I am showing you my finished piece above. This was a challenge indeed, I never painted something three dimensional before. When finished the doll I wanted to keep it myself!
